What should I expect when I visit?

Will anyone welcome me when I arrive?

Here at Woodstock Baptist we pride ourselves as being a friendly church.  Whether by our greeters, ushers or regular worshippers, we trust that you’ll be met with a smile and warm hello.  There are several ushers who would be happy to find you a seat, provide you with a program, or offer you directions for getting around our facility.

If you’d like specific information about the various ministries & events taking place within our church please visit our welcome center (A.K.A. “The Better Together Centre”) located in the overflow of our sanctuary.

Are my children welcome?

Absolutely!  We believe that all children are special in God’s sight and that they’re a central part to our life as a church.  Sunday school begins at 9:15AM for all ages.  We are also pleased to offer a full complement of programs for infants all the way up to and including third grade during our morning worship beginning at 10:30AM.  Children are welcome in the sanctuary for the first part of our worship and are dismissed following a children’s prayer time – approximately 15 minutes into the worship service.

How should I dress?

Of course, dress should be modest. Other than that, we don't care! At Woodstock Baptist, there is no dress code. There is nothing more respectful of God about any particular way of dressing. We want you to feel comfortable, so feel free come as you are! You'll see some of our people wearing ties, some wearing suits, and some dressed in more casual attire. We emphasize relationships, not fashion. So you need not worry, "Am I dressed up enough?"

What am I expected to put in the offering plate?

In short, nothing!  If you’re a visitor to our church then we want to you simply be our guest.  While we believe that giving money to the church’s work is an important way that we worship God, it’s our members and regular attenders that are responsible to meet the financial needs of the church. We won’t pressure people to give. We let God lead people who feel are already a part of our church family to give according to His will for them.

Will I know any of the songs?

During our Sunday morning worship we use a variety of different music.  Whether it’s choir arrangements, special soloists, instrumentalists, traditional hymns, or the most contemporary of worship songs, we try our very best to help everyone feel included in our music.  Typically the words to any songs we sing together appear on a large, easy-to-read screen.  Some people sing exuberantly; others are more reserved.  Whether you’re a casual observer or an active participant, know that you can feel comfortable joining us!
